It’s School Board Appreciation Week, and we’re so grateful for our amazing Cherokee County School Board!  A high-performing school district begins with a high-performing school board … and our board is incredibly dedicated to elevating the excellence in its governance.  Each day this week, we will share one School Board member’s thoughts on three questions.

What do you love most about serving on our School Board?
What I love most about serving on our School Board is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students, teachers, and the community.  As a retired educator, I understand the challenges and triumphs within the schools and district.  I am passionate about advocating for a safe learning environment and quality education and supporting all employees in each job capacity.  I take great pride in ensuring students have the resources to succeed and teachers are supported.  

What about our school district makes you the proudest?
What makes me proudest about CCSD is the unwavering dedication of ALL staff members, the hard work and achievements of students, and the strong support from the community.  As a native of Cherokee County, I take great pride in serving the district that shaped me.  Our schools are committed to providing a high-quality education that prepares students for success.  Seeing students succeed, overcome challenges, and reach their full potential is rewarding and the ultimate reason for my service.

What about our school district’s future is most exciting to you?
What excites me most about our school district’s future is the potential to expand classroom resources and create quality time for teachers to better prepare students for success in an ever-changing world.  I am always happy to see former students and CCSD graduates return to the school district that shaped them and seek job opportunities.  Every job matters; therefore, all employees play vital roles in creating a safe, organized, supportive learning environment.
