R.M. Moore ES STEM Academy Principal Kimberly Moody

Why did you choose to become a Principal?
I chose to become Principal to help implement innovative ideas in the classroom, improve overall school performance, and help create a vision for the future of education.  I enjoy helping teachers provide students with the tools they need to be successful in life, which in time will impact the broader community.  Serving in this capacity allows me to make a lasting difference in the lives of students.

What inspires you in your work as a Principal?
Seeing students grow academically, socially, and emotionally is very inspiring.  I also find inspiration in helping teachers and staff succeed by providing resources, professional development, and encouragement as they teach their students.  Relationships built with students and stakeholders provide me with a sense of fulfillment and keeps me energized.

How are you Elevating the Excellence in your school?
R.M. Moore ES STEM Academy is Elevating the Excellence by providing our teachers with professional development in both writing strategy groups and small group reading instruction.  This professional development is followed up with coaching cycles that occur between teachers and our instructional lead strategist and academic facilitator.  Math teachers will soon begin a book study, revisit 3 Act tasks, and complete peer observations followed by coaching.  Working collaboratively allows our faculty to share knowledge, support one another, and achieve common goals.  In addition, we are continuing to recognize students who receive positive behavior office referrals.
